About us

Nature has created places worthy of admiration and enjoyment, and one of them is the Shumen Plateau. 3,896 ha of it were declared a protected area on February 5, 1980 in order to preserve the valuable plant and animal species, the plateau landscape and places suitable for recreation and tourism. The park is a wonderful green attraction for all those who love a healthy lifestyle and combines impressive natural creations and archaeological sites. A walk in the park immerses us in the ancient history of the Bulgarians among living nature for exciting experiences in all seasons. Only the Shumen Plateau Nature Park is associated with the phrase "This is where Bulgaria begins" and is part of our national treasure.

On the territory of the “Shumen Plateau” Nature Reserve there are 11 marked tourist routes, places for accommodation, places for eating, shelters, gazebos, corners with park furniture for short-term recreation - benches, tables, fireplaces, attractive monuments of culture and religious and cult sites. The walking routes cover a significant part of the territory of the Park and the more important landmarks in it - natural and historical. They combine active recreation and cognitive tourism. The Park has built playgrounds with facilities including the “Sun” children's complex, an eco-educational trail for children “Forest Labyrinth” and “Forest School”.
