  1. Fourth-graders sang an eco-rap as a greeting to the forest educators presenting a lesson about the forest at the Panayot Volov Secondary School in Shumen. The song was prepared especially for the initiative, and the children received a gift \u2013 a lexicon with the most common tree species in Bulgaria. The lesson presented the most characteristic features of the individual species, the students were shown tree seeds and it was explained how foresters create new forests. The lesson ended with an eco-rap, and the children promised to learn the forest anthem \u2013 the song \u201cYou are beautiful, my forest\u201d.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

    Third graders from the same school also enriched their knowledge about the forest and can now identify different tree species. The children learned that the powerful underground root system of coniferous trees helps to strengthen the soil layer and thus can hold back landslides and prevent erosion. An example of this are the black pine plantations that surround the Shumen plateau. As true guardians of the forest, the children got acquainted with the most common tree species in Bulgaria and completed the tasks in the gift lexicon provided during the lesson without errors.<\/p>\n
