WARNING: AFRICAN SWINE FEVER!

The Directorate of the Shumen Plateau Nature Park is taking action related to the prevention of African swine fever. By order of the Director Eng. Vasil Vassilev, daily monitoring for the presence of unregulated landfills on the territory of the Nature Park has been ordered. If waste is detected, the competent authorities and the owners of the relevant territories will be notified. The employees of the Directorate are participating in a campaign to explain the risk of the disease and the measures to prevent the infection.

I would like to remind you that African swine fever has been detected outside the territory of the Park – in Northeastern Bulgaria it has been proven in Targovishte, Ruse, Razgrad and Silistra. The disease is caused by a virus and affects both domestic and wild pigs.

The Directorate of the Shumen Plateau Nature Park addresses all visitors to the park:

Please notify us if you find a wild boar carcass or observe an animal with atypical behavior – disorientation, lack of fear of humans. The telephone numbers are 054/ 800 765 or 112!
