Information activities
The Directorate of the Shumen Plateau Nature Park promotes the natural conditions, historical heritage, tourist routes and landmarks in the Park. It informs about the risks, actions in case of fires, as well as tips for safe walking in the forest. Data is provided for educational and scientific purposes. Multimedia presentations and films are offered, as well as opportunities for various initiatives in the Directorate Centers such as exhibitions, seminars and conferences.
The summer center has interactive boards. The Directorate's activities are presented through advertising materials, brochures, leaflets and souvenirs.
Books on topics related to the Park, as well as catalogs describing the flora and fauna, have been prepared for visitors. Eco-initiatives and events of various scales and themes are organized.
Forestry school
The “Forest School” is located on the Shumen Plateau, right next to the Summer Information Center. It was built by the Directorate of the Shumen Plateau Nature Reserve in connection with one of the main activities of the Directorate – conducting eco-educational programs and initiatives for children and students. The “Forest School” of the park is an interactive complex in which visitors learn more about nature and its inhabitants, and the need to protect them, in an entertaining way. It includes: “Forest Labyrinth”, “Outdoor Classroom” and “Fairy Tale Trail”. The “Forest Labyrinth” is a short route along which images of forest animals can be found in their characteristic habitats. There are boards with rules of conduct in nature and recreational sports facilities suitable for the youngest. The “Outdoor Classroom” is equipped with a blackboard, benches and interactive boards for conducting lessons and activities outdoors. Along the "Tale Trail", information about a forest animal and a Bulgarian folk tale in which it is a hero is presented on separate boards. In addition to various activities, the "Forest School" also hosts festive events related to the Forest Week, the Day of Natural Parks, Midsummer Day and other initiatives.
National competition
The Directorate of the Shumen Plateau Nature Park organizes the National Competition "Nature - My Inspiration". The competition has been announced annually since 1995 and stimulates children's creativity. Since 2008, children from all over the country have participated in it. With the help of artistic means, students from first to eighth grade express their attitude to the beauty and value of nature in several areas: fine arts, literature, applied art and multimedia presentations. They can participate with a drawing, a panel, a collage, as well as a story and a poem. There are no restrictions on the techniques and formats used. The requirement for applied works is that they be made of natural materials. The exhibition with the awarded works remains in the halls of the Administrative and Information Center to delight visitors. The competition is traditionally announced in April, and the award ceremony is in May. A competent jury evaluates the works.

The Directorate of the Shumen Plateau Nature Park is the initiator of numerous activities related to volunteer actions for cleaning and restoration of the park infrastructure. Employees participate in national and local campaigns, implement initiatives together with non-governmental organizations, volunteers, students and state structures. Support is received by initiatives related to the promotion of the Park, afforestation, installation and renovation of signs and trails. Shumen Plateau Nature Park is a desired partner in numerous eco-initiatives and works with all organizations that have ideas for improving the state of biodiversity and facilities in the park. Our doors are open for partnership in the name of nature!
Tourist services
The Directorate of the Shumen Plateau Nature Park organizes hiking and cycling. The Shumen Plateau Nature Park Summer Information Center has bicycles for rent. On the territory of the Shumen Plateau Nature Park there are 11 marked tourist routes, places to stay, places to eat, shelters, gazebos, corners with park furniture for short-term recreation - benches, tables, fireplaces, attractive cultural monuments and religious and cult sites. The hiking routes cover a significant part of the territory of the Park and the most important landmarks in it - natural and historical. They combine active recreation and cognitive tourism. The Park has playgrounds with facilities including a children's complex "Sun", an eco-educational trail for children "Forest Labyrinth" and "Forest School".
Summer activities
Summer activities include fun educational outdoor games. They are held from June to September. For children, visits to the observatory, the summer information center, hiking tours to landmarks on the Shumen Plateau, the Forest School, creative workshops and screenings of educational films are organized. The activities are held both in the Summer Center, which is located on the Shumen Plateau, and in the Administrative Building in the Kyoskovete Forest Park. Children learn more about the biodiversity of the nature park, how to prepare for a walk in the forest, how to prevent fires and how to react if they notice a forest fire. The activities are led by trained experts in "Forest Pedagogy" and are offered for organized groups upon prior request to the Directorate of the Shumen Plateau Nature Park.
Midsummer's Day
The Directorate of the Shumen Plateau Nature Park organizes an annual festival "Green Suns" to welcome Enyovden. In the minutes of sunrise on June 24, many people gather on the Shumen Plateau to welcome the first rays of the sun. Legends say that on this very morning the Sun "flickers" and whoever manages to see it will enjoy good health for a whole year. Enyovden is also a holiday of herbs. Medicinal plants picked at sunrise have the greatest power. The Directorate of the Shumen Plateau Nature Park provides herbs for weaving the Enyov wreath, under which those present move to the rhythm of the Enyov dance. The Orthodox Church celebrates St. John the Baptist on June 24. Name-day recipients receive gifts, and there are cakes with honey for everyone, as tradition dictates.
Become a patron
The Directorate of the Shumen Plateau Nature Park cooperates with companies and organizations in the maintenance of recreation areas, shelters, playgrounds and tourist routes. Anyone can become a “patron” of various sites in the Park. The “patron” maintains, cleans and uses the selected site with voluntary work with the assistance of the Directorate. Each patron can put up an information sign showing who takes care of this place.
