The director of the Smyadovo State Forestry Department, Eng. Sava Savov, opened the Forest Week today. He wished his colleagues and all those working in the forest system much success and fruitful work. Immediately after the official opening, the forest educator of the farm, Alexandrina Kareva, and her colleagues from the Shumen State Forestry Department, the Shumen Plateau Nature Reserve and the Social and Cultural Development Center organized a lesson for the children from the Margaritka State Forestry Department. Each child received a booklet printed especially for the Forest Week, as well as many gifts. During the lesson, the children planted their first sapling and learned how trees are grown and how they grow, who the forest inhabitants are and what they eat. The farm's firefighting team demonstrated to the children how to extinguish a fire at the end of the Forest Pedagogy lesson. The firefighters explained to the children why fires should not be lit near the forest and how flames destroy not only trees, but also all animals.
The events on the occasion of the Forest Week in Shumen district continue tomorrow with a donation of a computer by the experts of the Shumen Plateau Nature Reserve for the community center in Kirkovo, a hike with games and competitions for students from the St. Cyril and Methodius Primary School and the Chernorizets Hrabar Secondary School organized by the employees of the Preslav Rural Development Center, and the traditional campaign for handing over paper for recycling will start in the Smyadovo Rural Development Center. For every 10 kilograms of old paper, the organization will donate one tree for reforestation.
