They remove dangerous trees.

An interdepartmental commission inspected the tourist trail to the Bigora shelter in the Shumen Plateau Nature Park. The expert meeting was held at the initiative of the State Forestry in Shumen in connection with signals on tel. 112 about fallen large trees on the trail. Representatives of the Forestry, the Directorate of the Nature Park, the Shumen Municipality, the Shumen Regional Inspectorate for Environment and Water and the Regional Forestry Department participated in the inspection.
According to experts, the most dangerous trees in the natural world park are located in the section between the Orbita complex and the Bigora shelter. Eng. Todor Gerontiev, deputy director of the Shumen State Forest Service, specified that the trees are mainly beech, in which the signs of decay are not clearly expressed, and this fuels the concerns of specialists that there is a risk of future tragic incidents. The experts united around the idea of removing the 25-meter trees only from the upper side of the pedestrian walkway in the dangerous section. In this way, even if a tree falls, it will not reach passing citizens. The specialists pointed out that there are 4-meter saplings in the area, through which the forest will be renewed. "For us, the most important thing is the health and safety of tourists. It is an undeniable fact that trees in this area are old, they fall and measures must be taken," said the director of the Nature Park Eng. Vasil Vassilev.
The route from the Orbita complex to the Rusalka cave through the Bigora shelter, which includes the dangerous section, is a favorite place for Shumen residents and guests of the city. However, in 2012, a 2-year-old child tragically died there, who was hit by a falling tree, and three adults were seriously injured. Then the removal of dangerous and diseased trees was undertaken. An inventory is made every year.
