A hike to the rock monastery above the village of Khan Krum will be the accompanying event of the "Shumen Plateau 2020 - running, cycling and duathlon" competition, organized by the "Ilchov Bair" Cycling Club. Experts from the "Shumen Plateau" Nature Reserve offer an 8-kilometer walk to the holy place for spectators of the competition. Other interested tourists can also join.
The competition will be held on 05.07.2020, Sunday, on the territory of the Shumen Plateau Nature Reserve and the villages of Troitsa, Osmar, Kochovo, Khan Krum and Novosel with the start and finish at the stadium of the village of Troitsa. The starts in the various disciplines are planned from 9 to 9.30, and immediately after that the tourists will head to the bizarre natural forms of the Shumen Plateau. They will see the dwellings of the hesychast monks who lived in the rock caves in the Middle Ages, and the experts from the Park will tell more about the legends and historical discoveries.
It is recommended that participants wear suitable shoes or sneakers and bring water and a hat. Registration will take place at the start at the stadium in Troitsa.
The Directorate of the Shumen Plateau Nature Park is once again a partner of the Ilchov Bair Cycling Club in organizing sports competitions. In addition to a hike for spectators, the Directorate provides the cups and medals for this competition.
