Public discussion has begun on declaring a protected area "Shumen Plateau"

A draft order for the declaration of a protected area "Shumen Plateau" has been published on the website of the Ministry of Environment and Water. The area is part of the European ecological network Natura 2000 and will be declared for the protection of natural habitats and wild flora and fauna. Within one month of the publication on September 25, 2020, interested parties may submit to the Minister of Environment and Water, with a copy to the Executive Forestry Agency, reasoned written opinions, objections and proposals regarding the regimes specified in the draft order. Protected area BG0000382 "Shumen Plateau" is located in the lands of the town of Shumen, the villages of Novosel, Lozevo, in the municipality of Shumen, as well as the villages of Kochovo, Osmar, Troitsa, Veliki Preslav municipality. The objects of protection are the habitats of grasslands, beech and Pannonian forests and animal species.
