No visits to Biserna Cave this fall

Biserna Cave will not open to visitors due to the anti-epidemic measures and prohibitions introduced on 07.09.2021 in the emergency epidemic situation. The conditions in the cave, as well as the low temperature and high humidity, do not allow the use of masks by visitors and guides. Disinfection in the cave is also impossible. The Directorate of the Shumen Plateau Nature Park receives constant inquiries about visiting the natural phenomenon, but unfortunately, this autumn, tourist groups will not be able to enter.

Biserna Cave has the status of a scientific research site and as such opens to tourists twice a year according to an established regime. It is consistent with the biological cycle of the bats that inhabit it and which are a protected species according to the Biodiversity Act. The spring and autumn months are allowed for visits, but this year, the anti-epidemic measures and prohibitions introduced do not allow gatherings of people and leading tourists.
