Fourth graders from the "P.Volov" Secondary School in Shumen learned what protected species are in the Shumen Plateau Nature Reserve and how to protect them. The children are working on a school project called "Together for the Forest" and the lesson, which was held at the Park Directorate, will help them cope with the tasks set. The experts presented rare and endangered species of flora and fauna, the introduced restrictions and the laws that regulate them. The children learned why it is important to protect nature and how the protection of protected areas helps preserve biodiversity. As a result of the project activities, a Red Book of Endangered Plant and Animal Species will be developed and presentations will be made.
During the lesson, the students made a bat and a flower out of paper, demonstrating their dexterity and skills. The children presented the park with a woodpecker they made, which the experts will show to other children during the forest lessons.
