Over 20 bags of waste and nearly 30 car tires were collected by employees of the Shumen Plateau Nature Park and the Shumen Regional Forestry Department on the Shumen Plateau. The action is dedicated to the Forest Week and is being held jointly for another year. The areas around the former kindergarten were cleaned, as well as along the road to the Biserna cave. The directors of the two institutions, Eng. Krasimir Hristov and Eng. Emil Gelov, call on citizens not to throw waste in unregulated places and to protect the nature park.
Eng. Hristov emphasized that for the third time this year, tires are being extracted from ravines and forest areas and thanked the Municipality of Shumen for their assistance in their disposal. The cleaning of the park will continue, with repairs to some shelters also to be carried out. Efforts will be made to renovate fireplaces, replace benches and roofs.
On the field, the director of the Shumen Forestry Department, Eng. Emil Gelov, noted that the forests in the park are in very good condition and no diseases have been detected. The total average annual growth is 6,156 cubic meters, and the harvested wood in 2022 is 2,715 cubic meters.
In connection with the control of forest areas within the scope of the Shumen Regional Forest Reserve in 2022, 19,706 inspections were carried out, and 309 acts of violation were drawn up. Inspections and acts were also drawn up by the employees of the State Forest Service and the State Hunting and Forestry Enterprises, and a total of 404 penal decrees were issued. The fines imposed amounted to 41,983 leva. 114.5 cubic meters of firewood, 2 motor vehicles and one tractor, 46 carts, 22 chainsaws and 22 hunting trophies were confiscated for the benefit of the state. 16,476 leva was received from the sale of the confiscated items.
