Forestry lessons in Popovo for the first time

Over 500 children from Popovo participated in the forest pedagogy lessons organized by experts from the Shumen Plateau Nature Reserve and the Sofia Forestry and Forestry Service. Children from grades 1 to 4 from two of the schools - Kliment Ohridski and Lyuben Karavelov - received as a gift the new book about trees in Bulgaria, printed with funds from the OPE, and learned important things about the main tree species in the Northeast.
At the end of the lesson, the children already knew that trees are divided into deciduous and coniferous, that pine needles are longer than fir needles, and many other things by which they can recognize different trees. To make the lessons more interesting for the children, the forest educators had also prepared various recipes for tea, roasted chestnuts, and medicinal solutions that can be used by young and old, and they learned to recognize the seeds of different tree species.
This is the first visit of forest educators to the municipality of Popovo, and the next meeting of the children and the foresters will be on the territory of the Shumen Plateau Nature Reserve, so that the young students can explore the Biserna cave and the summer center.
