The implementation of the Management Plan for the Shumen Plateau Nature Reserve was presented to interested institutions and organizations. The organizer of the event, according to the legal provisions, is the Regional Inspectorate for Environment, Water and Forestry, Shumen.
The management plan is a document that sets the foundations and ideas for the development of the protected area, regulates the regimes and sets management objectives. Based on these strategies, programs, activities and other mechanisms for efficient management of the area, the uses and benefits for the population are determined.
The current Management Plan has been in force since 2011. The summary data on implementation show that the main objectives set out in the document have been met. These objectives are: protection, maintenance and restoration of biological and landscape diversity and priority natural habitats and species with conservation value, sustainable use of natural resources, provision of opportunities for environmental education and interpretation and tourism.
For the period 2011 - 2023, numerous projects have been implemented, tourist routes, recreation areas, specialized trails have been built. A Summer Information Center, an Administrative Center, an Observatory, a buffer building and the improvement of the Biserna Cave have been built. Implemented projects and activities with external funding have a total value of 5,683,680 BGN.
