Hunter exams have begun, Shumen Plateau Wildlife Sanctuary is hosting

From June 6 to July 15, 2023, the exams for acquiring the right to hunt, according to the Hunting and Game Conservation Act, will be held in Shumen. This year, the host of the candidate hunters is the Shumen Plateau Wildlife Sanctuary.

The theoretical exam includes three levels – test, written and oral exam. For the first time, the tests are solved through an electronic system using tablets, which facilitates the assessment and it takes place in real time. Future hunters answer 104 questions in 90 minutes, with 80 of the questions having to be answered correctly. The topics cover game science, hunting legislation, game management and protection, ways, methods and means of hunting, weapons knowledge and first aid. The written exam includes two topics, with candidates admitted to the oral exam answering clarifying questions on them.

This year, for the Shumen and Targovishte regions, there are 250 candidates for hunters. Up to 25 people can appear on one exam date. The exam committee includes representatives of IAG, RDG-Shumen, SIDP, DGS, DLS and the Ministry of Interior.

Only those who have passed the theoretical part are entitled to take a practical exam for acquiring the right to hunt. The protocol with the data from the exams is reflected in the Internet-based information system of the IAG. After the candidate for acquiring the right to hunt has successfully passed the exams, he receives a certificate to this effect, issued by the RDG. With this document, the future hunter can now look for an association that will accept him into its group.
