The Directorate of the Shumen Plateau Nature Park thanks all the volunteers who this year made efforts to make the Shumen Plateau an increasingly attractive place for recreation and sports. Today, December 5, is celebrated as Volunteer Day and we pay tribute to all the friends of the Park who care for nature.
Graduates of the Panayot Volov Secondary School in Shumen participated in the most actions and initiatives. The students implemented their ideas for placing birdhouses, made directional and motivating signs, and actively participated in the volunteer activities of various organizations. Cleanup and reforestation actions were carried out by the BEST Foundation, the Society 528 Association, the Impatient for Good Association, and others, which united young people from many schools in Shumen.
Young people from the Podobri Foundation, together with experts from the Park, renewed tourist markings along the Floristic Trail. They also worked on a project to place signs at shelters and indicate routes to picnic areas.
The scouts from the two clubs in the city – SK “Madarski Konnik” and SK “Kresliv Orel” – were extremely active during the year. Thanks to their “small scout missions”, the benches in front of Rusalka Cave were repaired, car tires were removed from ravines on the plateau, trees were cleaned of old and dangerous martenitsa, spring flowers were planted in the Kyoshkavete forest park, and numerous actions were carried out to clean up various areas in the Park. The infrastructure was also taken care of by interns from the Sofia University “Tr. Simeonov”, who voluntarily helped the park employees to improve the paths to Biserna Cave.
The Rotary Club of Shumen continued the tradition of caring for nature. They now have special stands next to the shelters, equipped with bags and gloves for collecting waste, and the marking of the sports facility has been renewed.
The largest number of volunteers participated in the national campaign "Let's Clean Bulgaria", in which employees of the Shumen Plateau Public Health Service joined together with the Shumen Municipality, non-governmental organizations, and sports clubs.
The Directorate team supports all initiatives related to improving the condition of the Nature Park and always contributes to good causes. Thank you, dear volunteers! Always be responsible towards nature!
