Activities with volunteers and the participation of citizens in various initiatives were discussed during the meeting of the Advisory Council to the Directorate of Shumen Plateau Nature Park. The Council is an advisory body on issues related to the management and development of the park and includes representatives of local authorities, non-governmental organizations and institutions related to the forest system and environmental protection. „Through the discussions and proposals, we can support direct activities in the park related to tourism, infrastructure maintenance and educational initiatives,“ said the director of Shumen Plateau Nature Park, Eng. Kiril Valchev.
Those present commented on the increased interest in volunteering in the Park, related to cleaning, improvement of recreational areas and fountains. The Director of the Shumen Regional Directorate, Eng. Emil Gelov, suggested that tourists report irregularities during their walks, especially in the summer, when there is a risk of fires. The young people from the City Student Parliament and the Municipal Youth Council expressed their desire to participate in all public activities that the Park Directorate initiates.
The report on the activities of the Shumen Plateau Wildlife Sanctuary in 2025 was presented to the Advisory Council. A new deputy chairperson of the advisory body was elected. At the suggestion of those present, this is Siika Bozhimirova, chairperson of the Scout Club "Kresliv Orel" Shumen.
