Four teams competed in a quiz dedicated to the Week of the Forest. The event was organized by the Shumen Plateau Regional Park, the An. Stoyanov Regional Park-Centre for Forestry, the City Student Parliament and the Shumen Children's Parliament. Students from junior high school participated. Before the competition, experts from the Shumen Plateau Regional Park presented the history of the Week of the Forest, the forestry profession, as well as the flora, fauna and activities in the Park. Then, the students answered 30 questions online related to the presented topics. The participants also had to give their opinion on environmental issues. The team from the 3rd Primary School "Dimitar Blagoev" performed the most successfully, followed by the teams from the 2nd Primary School "Dr. Petar Beron", the 2nd Primary School "P. Volov" and the 6th Primary School "Enyo Markovski". All received subject prizes and an invitation to visit the "Biserna" cave.
During the event, volunteers from the Youth Red Cross demonstrated how to provide first aid. All those present got involved, and in addition to knowledge about nature, the students acquired skills for responding to incidents.
This year we celebrate 100 years of Forest Week under the motto "A century of eternity in protection and care". Forestry education is also celebrating its centennial anniversary and on this occasion the Forestry University was presented, where future foresters, ecologists, forest specialists and engineers are trained. Through all events and initiatives we want to show that work for the forest is work for the benefit of the entire society.
