Natural Science Center opens in the Observatory building

A new Center for Natural Sciences will be opened in the building of the Astronomical Observatory on the Shumen Plateau. The center was created by professors from the Shumen University "Ep. Konstantin Preslavski" and will be open to visitors on May 20 at 6 p.m. with an interesting program. The official event will be opened by opera singer Dean Konstantinov, dance ensemble "Ludi mladi" from the "Sava Dobroplodni" Secondary School and folk singer Nikol Georgieva will raise the mood, and the biggest attraction will be the performance with live animals by the famous herpetologists Marko Ivanov and Kiril Valkanov from Zmiyarnik from Burgas.

In the Center itself, in addition to the traditional exhibition of old devices and apparatuses that represent the natural sciences in the fields of chemistry, physics, geography and astronomy, you can also see new interesting things. For example, something that rarely happens in nature – how two different species copulate: a newt and a frog. The new exhibition is the first in Bulgaria of animal models in real size.

The Center will accept advance reservations for visits. Visitors will also be able to see live experiments and educational films. The Astronomical Observatory building is jointly managed by the University of Shumen and the Directorate of the Shumen Plateau Nature Park.
