Children from Shumen are the first to congratulate foresters in Bulgaria on the International Day of Forests

Children from Shumen congratulate all foresters in Bulgaria on the occasion of the International Day of Forests on March 21. In a specially filmed clip, students from the “Panayot Volov” Secondary School perform the anthem of the Bulgarian forest “You are beautiful, my forest”. With this, the children from the “Green Patrols” and “Green Dolphins” clubs joined the initiative of the Executive Forestry Agency to join the international events marking the Day of Forests. Its celebration aims to emphasize their importance for life on Earth and to call on everyone to protect them.

Today marks the start of a series of events to be attended during Forest Week, April 4-10, 2022.

An online quiz "I Learn and Know About the Bulgarian Forest" starts on March 21. It is being held for the second year in a row and is aimed at children from grades 3 to 6. 10 topics with interesting facts about the forest and nature will be published on the websites of the Executive Forestry Agency and the Shumen Plateau Nature Reserve, as well as on the Facebook pages. Children can get acquainted with the interesting information and on April 10, 2022. they will be able to check their knowledge online through a survey, which will be published only on the website of the Executive Forestry Agency.

Afforestation, cleaning of forest areas and activities with children of different ages will be held throughout the stratum. The Directorate of the Shumen Plateau Nature Park will hold educational initiatives with children from schools and kindergartens, and the Directorates of the Vitosha, Bulgarka, Sinite Kamani, Rila Monastery, Golden Sands and Blagoevgrad Nature Parks have announced competitions for children's creativity.

March 21 has been celebrated since 1972 at the initiative of the 23rd session of the European Confederation of Agriculture (November 1971), supported by the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations, in order to protect the flora and fauna of forests. Forests are a natural resource, thanks to which the air and water are clean and which represent an environment for the life and development of a variety of plants and animals. In addition, forests also have an important economic importance for the economy of a given country. Therefore, everyone is responsible for the protection of this natural resource, for its development and rational use for the sake of the country's well-being
