Today marks the traditional Forest Week, through which the forestry college in our country celebrates its professional holiday. This year's motto is "Forest is Health!". In its centuries-old history, the holiday, as well as activities related to nature conservation, receive the support of the entire society. The Directorate of the Shumen Plateau Nature Park congratulates everyone related to the forestry profession, the protection and care of forests and nature lovers! Be healthy and remember that the forest is health, and forest paths do not lead to pharmacies!
On the occasion of the holiday, athletes from Shumen, who conduct their training on the Shumen plateau, planted saplings in the parking lot next to the Information Center of the Shumen Plateau Nature Reserve. Children from the Madarski Konnik Orienteering Club also participated in the action, promising to take care of the trees in the future.
Students from the Panayot Volov Secondary School in Shumen joined the initiative "Be an Ambassador of the Forest" of the Executive Forestry Agency and the Shumen Plateau Nature Reserve. The head of the Green Patrols club at the school, Delyana Borisova, held a lesson with the video materials provided to the foresters, dedicated to the forestry profession and the activities that are carried out in forest areas. The information was disseminated in the classes and so the children are now carriers of the messages about forest protection.
Other initiatives are also being implemented on the occasion of Forest Week:
back in March, the launch of an online quiz "I Learn and Know About the Bulgarian Forest". It is aimed at children from 3rd to 6th grade. For 21 days, interesting facts about the forest and its inhabitants have been published, and on April 11 at 10 am, there will be a survey on the IAG website through which children can test their knowledge. The first 10 correctly completed surveys will receive prizes.
The Executive Forestry Agency is launching a column that features unknown historical facts shared by you,
archival photos related to the history of Forest Week or the forestry profession, interesting stories and incidents related to the work of veteran foresters, exhibits and authentic materials related to the forestry profession.
Your materials will enrich the history of forestry, which is more than 140 years old, and the exhibits can be part of forest museum collections. The materials are collected at the e-mail address: sedmicanagorata2021@abv.bg and are published on the Facebook page of the Executive Forestry Agency.
Let's celebrate Forest Week 2021 together.
