On Saturday, fourth-graders from the "Green Patrols" club at the "Panayot Volov" Secondary School in Shumen carried out a reforestation campaign. Together with parents, teachers and experts from the "Shumen Plateau" Nature Reserve, the children donated red beech and sycamore trees to the city. The saplings were grown from seeds that the students sowed in 2019 during a lesson about the forest and the forestry profession conducted by the forest educators of the Park and the North-Eastern State Enterprise. Then the children learned how to care for the trees and what is needed for them to develop properly, and with the help of teachers Yana Deseva and Delyana Borisova, they managed to grow 11 saplings. Today, the caring environmentalists afforested part of the green alley on "Vladaysko Vastanie" Street, where diseased coniferous plantations were recently removed. Protective fences made of slats and netting were also built around the young saplings. The children promised to take care of the trees until they grow stronger. The action was coordinated with the experts of the Shumen Municipality.
