New birdhouses will shelter the feathered inhabitants of the Shumen Plateau Nature Reserve.
The houses were made by first-graders from Panayot Volov Secondary School with class teacher Katerina Koleva. Parents and experts from the Park participated in the making. The specialists explained to the children which birds stay in Bulgaria in the winter and what places they choose for their home, and how to make houses that the birds will like.
Today, the kids learned what our furry friends' favorite food is and helped place the tree houses in the "Kyoskovete" forest park. Together with the park employees, the places where the new homes will be placed were selected.
This is the second time such an initiative has been held by students of class teacher Katerina Koleva. It began 4 years ago, on the occasion of the 40th anniversary of the declaration of the Shumen Plateau Nature Reserve by children from the same school.
