Disinsection against the Chestnut borer pest will be carried out in chestnut plantations in Shumen. The Shumen Municipality plans to carry out the treatment in the time range from 10:00 p.m. on May 15 to 6:00 a.m. on May 16. The work has been assigned to the company "D D D 1" OOD, and the preparation "Koragen" 20 SK will be used.
Chestnut trees are emblematic of the Kyoskovete forest park and the beautiful alley is a favorite place for walks for Shumen residents. The chestnut borer is among the most dangerous enemies of trees. It is a small to medium-sized beetle with a length of 6-8 mm, with a long, thin, highly developed, arcuate curved proboscis. There is one generation per year and it overwinters as a larva in an earthy chamber in the soil. Chestnut trees are successfully protected by 2-3 sprayings against adult borers. The fight against the adult insect with chemicals is possible only during the flight, before egg laying.
