Student practice with graduates of the Sofia University "Trayko Simeonov" is taking place in the Shumen Plateau Nature Reserve. Tenth graders are studying the specialty "Sports and Tourism Activities" and practical activities are part of their training. Experts from the Park showed the main tourist routes, cycling routes, types of markings and park infrastructure on the ground. During the activity on the Dendrological Trail, the students not only got acquainted with the most common tree species in the Park, but also removed overgrown vegetation from part of the route.
As part of the practice of useful and harmful activities in the forests, the Temenuga shelter was cleaned of waste. Theoretical classes were also held to familiarize students with the types of leadership, the mandatory equipment, and the protection of forests when tourists visit. The students also learned more about the flora and fauna of the Park, as well as the forestry profession. In the discussions, everyone made their own proposal to make the Shumen plateau even more attractive to tourists, with the most discussed idea being to build a lift for easier access to the protected area, which would also be a kind of attraction for the city.
The activities with students from the "Trayko Simeonov" Sofia University are part of a long-standing cooperation agreement between the school and the Park Directorate.
