We celebrate Midsummer with the Green Suns Festival

The Directorate of the Shumen Plateau Nature Reserve is organizing the traditional "Green Suns" festival, dedicated to Midsummer Day. It will start at 5.33 a.m. with sunrise on June 24 - Friday, on the meadow next to the information center of the "Creators of the Bulgarian State" monument.

A wreath of herbs will be woven, under which everyone will move to the rhythm of the Enyovo dance. Workshops are planned in which young and old can make wreaths and Enyovo bracelets. Users from the Center for Social Integration and Rehabilitation of People with Visual Impairments will show how to make handmade soaps. Products with lavender oil will be on display. Those present will be able to learn about old grandmother's recipes with medicinal plants, and the mood will be provided by the vocal group "Honey Voices".

It is believed that on this day the Sun bestows good health, and herbs picked at sunrise have the greatest healing power. We remind you that on June 24, the Orthodox Church honors St. John the Baptist. People with the names John, Yonko, Yani, Yana and Yanka, Kaloyan, Iva, Ivka, Ivana, Deyan, Dilyan, Diana and others are honored. Surprises are planned for the name days.

In the evening at 6:30 p.m. in front of the building of the Astronomical Observatory on the plateau, a celebration with creative workshops and entertainment will be held, specially prepared by the teacher of the Center for Natural Sciences at the "Bishop Konstantin Preslavski" University. Raffles and quizzes, making Enyovski wristbands and wreaths, forest clay smiles and other surprises are planned. The Center and the Directorate of the Shumen Plateau Nature Park invite all Shumen residents and guests of the city to participate in the celebration.
