The activities of the “Green Deal” eco-club at the “Trayko Simeonov” Secondary School in Shumen began with a lesson about the forest. The students were introduced to the most common tree species and learned to recognize trees by their leaves, fruits and seeds. The club was formed for the first year and the activities began with this lesson.
Each member of the club received a special lexicon, created to support training under the project "Improving the environmental protection status on the territory of the North-Eastern State Enterprise" through the OP Environment. The publication presents deciduous and coniferous tree species and expands children's knowledge of nature. The young ecologists were introduced to the beneficial and harmful activities in the forests, as well as the ways to maintain a clean environment.
The young ecologists had prepared a surprise for the forest educator Irina Pavlova from the Shumen Plateau Nature Reserve by performing the anthem of the forest - the song "You are beautiful, my forest". They shared that they had a great desire to plant a tree and participate in afforestation, and the forest educator Irina Pavlova promised them to include them in a similar campaign when it was organized.
The Directorate of the Shumen Plateau Nature Reserve and the Traiko Simeonov Secondary School have a cooperation agreement and have been working together with children for several years. Internships and practices are held in the park with students majoring in "Assistant Instructor in Sports and Tourism Activities", and lessons about the forest are held with younger students.
