Campaigns dedicated to Forest Week, the professional holiday of the forestry association, have started across the country. The initiatives of the forestry structures are dedicated to the 100th anniversary of the holiday of foresters and forest employees and are related to both afforestation campaigns and the renovation of monuments, the preservation of significant historical sites and paying tribute to individuals who contributed to the development of forestry in Bulgaria.
The culmination of the events is in the period 7-13 April, when mass afforestation, educational events for children, open days of forest structures, meetings of generations, etc. are planned. The solemn opening of the holiday will take place on 7 April in front of the St. Alexander Nevsky Church-Monument. It was in front of the church 100 years ago, with a prayer service, that the first Afforestation Holiday began, which over the years has grown and turned into Forest Week. The idea is for foresters from all regions of the country to get involved with explanatory activities about the importance of forests and afforestation, and for the students' work week to turn into afforestation week.
More information about Forest Week and other dates and events related to forestry history can be found on the website "100 Years of Forest Week".
