Students conduct their internship in the Park

For another year, students from the “Trayko Simeonov” Secondary School are conducting their internship in the “Shumen Plateau” Nature Reserve. A cooperation agreement has been concluded between the school management and the Directorate, and joint activities and practices of the students are being implemented for another year. The young people receive a variety of knowledge and tasks in theory and in the field. Thanks to their efforts, paths that are often used by tourists have been cleared. These are the “Path of Health” and the one to the Biserna Cave. Along with the physical labor, the young people learn about the types of marking in the forest, why it is necessary to have information boards and signs, and also where the routes in the Park lead.
In addition to practical work with the trainees, theoretical classes are held on various topics related to their specialty at school. The talks cover the types of protected areas, the specifics of the Shumen Plateau Nature Reserve, how to conduct a hike with tourists, what equipment to choose, how to act in critical situations. The young people participate in hikes, and also take on the role of tourist guides in the Biserna cave.
