The species under monitoring are in stable condition

The status of the species under monitoring is stable, according to data from the spring monitoring of the populations of Swiss snowdrop and spring cyclamen. Monitoring activities on the territory of the Shumen Plateau Nature Reserve are carried out annually according to an approved schedule of the Minister of Environment and Waters, and the data are included in the national system of the status of biodiversity. After processing the field forms and based on previous observations, it can be stated that the status of the species is stable, with a tendency to increase. There are no potential threats and indirect negative activities on the populations.

The Elwesian snowdrop census was carried out in 52 census sites, and the spring botrytis was recorded in 30 sites. The Elwesian snowdrop is a perennial plant included in the Red Book of Bulgaria in the category of "endangered species" and as a protected species under the Biological Diversity Act. The spring cyclamen falls into the category of "rare species" and a species "under protection regime". An interesting fact is that both plants are poisonous. Because of their beautiful colors, they are picked by visitors to the plateau, but their colors are perishable and quickly fade. They are cultivated as ornamentals.
