Warning! Collapse of the Kostadinov Rock Monastery

Warning signs and safety tapes have been placed in the area of the Kostadinov rock monastery above the Velikopreslav village of Osmar. It is located within the boundaries of the Shumen Plateau Nature Reserve and tourists reported fallen rock fragments to the Directorate. The experts' inspection showed that the debris broke off under the "Eye" rock phenomenon and the collapse blocks one of the approaches to it. The rock monastery was not affected, the metal ladder leading to its entrance was also not damaged. Experts from the Park placed safety tapes to limit passage under the collapsing rock and placed warning signs about the danger of falling rocks. Due to the risk of accidents, the Park Directorate recommends that the climb to the "Eye" rock phenomenon be made only from the approach where there is a safety rope, and that visitors to the Kostadinov monastery be careful, as similar collapses of the limestone rocks have occurred before.
According to Article 144 of the Forestry Act, access to forest areas is free and at one's own risk, but the Directorate of the Shumen Plateau Nature Reserve issues a warning to tourists visiting the area.
