"Green Patrols" cleaned the parking lot in front of the Kyoškovete forest park

On the occasion of World Environment Day - June 5, the "Green Patrols" from the "Panayot Volov" Sofia University cleaned the parking lot in front of the "Kyoskovete" forest park. The organizers of the initiative are the Regional Inspectorate for Environment and Water of Shumen and the "Shumen Plateau" Children's Park. The students were divided into two teams and participated in a competition to collect the largest amount of waste. Over 20 children from 1st to 5th grade participated. The teams performed equally and were awarded for their efforts. The gifts were provided by the Shumen Eco-Inspection with the support of the Park Directorate. Experts from both institutions offered the children various challenges and role-playing games related to this year's motto of World Environment Day. The campaign is dedicated to the steps that are being taken to improve air quality. The "Green Patrols" learned the role of forests in purifying the air and how to protect the "lungs" of the planet. Through fun games, the children were presented with the connection between the forest and its inhabitants and were introduced to the animal and plant species found in the Shumen Plateau Natural Park.

The Green Patrols initiative was established in 2009 and together with the Shumen Plateau Nature Reserve, numerous campaigns with an ecological focus have been implemented over the years. The joint work with the children, the Park Directorate and the Shumen Regional Inspectorate for Environment and Water will continue.
